Established in 1865, Tallong Public School is a comprehensive small school and proud member of the NSW public school system. Our school enjoys an excellent reputation in the Tallong community, providing outstanding and diverse educational opportunities for all students in a nurturing, rural environment.
Tallong Public School has a current enrolment of 60 students, with 5% identifying as Aboriginal, and EAL/D student numbers currently at 8% of the school's enrolment.
Students are placed across 3 small, multi-stage classes.
Strong teaching practices and a commitment to developing positive student wellbeing are at Tallong Public School's core. Our school maintains a focus on improving the literacy and numeracy achievement of all students across a comprehensive and engaging curriculum. The development of the whole child is a priority and as such the special interests and needs of all students are met through a differentiated teaching, strong learning and support processes, student wellbeing initiatives, performing arts endeavours and diverse sporting opportunities.
The school values strong support from the parent and wider school community which enhances our friendly, caring and inclusive environment, and the provision of opportunities for all students. Together, students, staff and parents uphold our values - Respectful, Safe and Responsible. The school has a strong partnership with the Parents & Citizens Association who contribute significant time and funding to enable resourcing and improvement to school assets.
The school benefits from being part of a collegial network of local small schools through which schools deliver joint programs, and teachers participate in collaborative professional learning.
Through the development of the Situational Analysis, the school identified the need for a strong focus on explicit teaching practices, curriculum planning and assessment and data skills, that are responsive to the needs of all students. This focus will ensure we meet and exceed our reading and numeracy improvement measures under Strategic Direction One, 'Student Growth and Attainment'.
Through Strategic Direction Two 'Collaboration, Engagement and High Expectations' we will build a collaborative culture with high collective efficacy, through strong school wide and cross school relationships. Our professional learning community will support distributed leadership and the delivery of quality professional learning and shared practice. Strong partnerships with the school community that foster educational aspirations, improved attendance and student wellbeing, will enable the success of every child.
We look forward to working in partnership with you as together we support your child's academic, social and emotional growth.
